Day 7- Claire

 We started the day off with some animal crossing trivia. The trivia included the release date of animal crossing new leaf and the console it was meant for. Then finally what type of animal runs the museum. after trivia we had another competitive game of Kahoot, won by rose. Where we used our video game knowledge to choose what genre of game this music belonged to. After Kahoot, we attempted to play the Kahoot song on the boomwhackers. Then we learned how to put sound effects into sound traps and continued working on our projects. Next, we analyzed the soundtrack of Legends of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Each group had 4 songs and we looked for similarities between them, like motifs or instrumentation. We shared our findings back with the class and then had lunch. After lunch, our video game tournament began, we played Step Mania 5 (Walmart Dance Dance Revolution). We went through a bracket with the winner being Mr. Lowery. Who knocked Matthew out in the boss battle. Afterward, we finished our trombone game competition. The winners were Eli for points amount and a tie between Ashley and Claire for letter score winner. Afterward, we reset the room and went home.

The day started with our walk-in question about Halo, which seemed to be much harder than the previous two. We later played Kahoot which we would use to attempt to identify Video game bosses with their musical themes. We then used our boom whackers to recreate the lost woods from Zelda The Ocarina of time. After a short break, we began identifying/Analyzing soundtracks from Mario Sunshine, in which we used our elements of music to find the differences between the original soundtrack and the chosen soundtracks from the different game levels. music and video games - day 2 - Baker and Eli

 January 5, 2023 We began our second class today with a video game "question of the day" about Sonic the Hedgehog. The three questions were; what year did sonic the hedgehog come out, what console was the game originally made for, and who is the villain that sonic has to fight? We then dove into the history of video games and we worked in groups to create sections of timelines that displayed the history of video games.  After working on this, we took a break and returned to learn about "Music in video games". We began by learning about how sound waves work and then watching/listening to gameplay from old games. we then analyzed the sounds and described what we heard. After that, we had lunch and prepared for our drive up to Dallas. About halfway through our ride we quickly stopped at BUC-EECS to stop for snacks. Music and Video Games - Day 1 - Nate and Micah

Music and Video Games day 1 By: Nate and Micah  We started the day by walking in and answering questions about the theme music for today's class. Our walk-in music was the theme of Mario. This will be a fun game that we play at the start of every class to discover the theme for the day! After answering questions about today's theme song, we learned about the music and video game industry. Next Mr. Lowry taught us about the elements of music so that we could have a good basis for understanding. These elements included: instrumentation, tempo, rhythm, texture, pitch, and dynamics. Additionally, we learned the necessary vocabulary to engage in these deep discussions on multiple aspects of the video game industry. Then we explored how music can be used as a tool in video games to set the feel of a scene or level for a player.
